Breaking the Rules

All macro advice for buggy things suggests focussing on the eyes, which is fine as long as the buggy thing is facing the right way. This one wasn't, and I was facing the sun, but I kind of like it anyway. I think this is probably a Vagrant Emperor dragonfly, it and I decided to break the rules today

Who was on the bench - 12th September 2012

Bury St Edmunds Bench
Back in my Flickr days my "Who is on the Bench" series of photos became quite popular, not for the quality of the photos but for the array of characters who sat on the bench week after week. So here's a bench photo for old time's sake, larger picture can be viewed at Picasa

A day at Lackford lakes with Butterfly Mark

Admirable Red Admiral
Mark worked his magic and this little fella posed for us, it was one of many red admirals that we saw. More pictures of our day out can be found on Picasa/G+

It's just not cricket (OK maybe it is)

By Jiminy
From 2012-09-01
Spent a pleasurable day with Butterfly Mark wandering around Lackford lakes today. It was cloudy all day so not ideal for taking photos as you can see. There will be more pictures at G+ eventually but meanwhile here's one of them.....(and yes we did find some butterflies)
