Singing in the Spring
Today, for the first day in what seems like forever, the sun shone all day. I made the most of it and went for a walk with my camera. Here are just a few photos I took along the way, including my best ever snaps of a green woodpecker and a small rodent that I think is a common vole.

The Challenge of Grey Days
The endless grey days of late have made outdoor photography very much of a challenge. I've not let it stop me though as it's all a learning curve. Some people upload perfect photos, then again maybe they only take perfect photos. You'll not find perfect photos here but you will see the struggle I had trying to get good shots. It's easy enough on a nice sunny day but we seem to see them so rarely so I'm now using these grey days as a persona challenge to try and improve my photography skills. One thing I learned today is that if you are taking nature snaps try to get in close to your subjects. Oh, and despite the dull grey weather I actually enjoyed myself taking these ;-)

The Goldcrest and Me
A decent picture of a goldcrest continues to elude me. Not only are they tiny birds, they flit about all over the place. I'll keep trying though, if nothing else they are fascinating to watch

Signs of spring
Get your own
With the sun shining beautifully this morning I headed off to Bradfield woods. It was nice to see signs of spring there. The hare was bounding this way and that along the path in front of me. Despite facing the sun I couldn't resist taking a snap or three. Then a little later I spotted the red admiral, my first butterfly spot of the year.

Colour My World With Love
As a street photographer there are some moments that you want to capture but that you don't want to intrude upon, so you have to get creative. Here I saw the couple so moved to opposite this part of the ruined abbey, crouched down and focused on the couple through the central arch. On Valentine's day it was too good an opportunity to miss.
Then I wondered how I could make the couple stand out more so, after a crop, I tried a bit of selective colouring. I like both images, though I think I prefer the full colour - I'll leave you to decide which one you prefer.
